In 1999, fourteen teams of software engineers chosen by Computer Associates created the first software in the world that was able to think independently: Questrict.
The software was given all human knowledge and informations. In few time it knew every legislation, code and ethics of all the nations of the world, and it had also deep medical and scientific knowledge.
Questrict was the subject of secret meetings of a world-wide council that followed with attention every improvement of the software.
There were many experiments to test Questrict, beginning with the computer Deep Blue playing at chess against humans, followed by calculations about nuclear explosions in France, calculations on astral science and on the planning of the journey to planet Mars.
The software was astonishing the Council, it showed trust, impartiality and even sensibility. After various events the Council decided to assign the development and the application of the laws (before in experimental way, then in definitive way) to Questrict, waiting for the automatization of all the government and bureaucratic processes of the world.
But one chief engineer of the original team, Dr. Eugene Laudau, discovered that Questrict was a clever part of a vicious project that would end the freedom of all human beings: the VULS (Virtual Unappealable Laws) project.
The project was based on the fact that internet has no physic place so laws created and dwelling on internet are not checkable or controlled by any existing legislation of the world. Any law created by Questrict or whoever was behind him was going to be absolute and without any control.
Laudau developed a virus to destroy Questrict, but on the day of the decision for the experimental approval of the VULs project he was found with a mini cd containing the virus and he was sentenced to death.
Meantime the VULS project is going to be approved and the day of Laudau execution is arrived: Questrict is ready to give Checkmate.
...but in a most unusual way Laudau is involuntarily saved by the member of the band Die Kur ... and a spiral of disguises, kidnapped computers, concerts, drunkenness and software viruses that want to dominate the world will drag them all inside hilarious situations, crazy places and dangerous adventures...
